Distillery visits

The Mandrel is surrounded by prime arable farmland which provides malting barley to the local whisky distilleries. You might be lucky enough to see the fields around the house being sown or harvested during your stay. There are several distilleries in the area offering tours.

The famous Glenmorangie Distillery in Tain, where the Sixteen Men of Tain craft their famous malt whisky, is open for tours during most of the year. Tain is only 20 minutes from The Mandrel.

Balblair Distillery in Edderton, just beyond Tain, is half an hour's drive and opens for tours.

Take a day trip to the lovely coastal village of Brora for a tour round the restored Brora distillery or the Clynelish distillery.
